John A. Strain is certified as a Specialist in Taxation Law by the California Board of Legal Specialization and is a member of the California Bar. He represents clients on a variety of individual and business-oriented tax matters. A substantial amount of his experience relates to foreign businesses with U.S. operations and investments and to U.S. persons with foreign business and investment endeavors.

John regularly provides tax and general business advice on the formation, operation, and reorganization of partnerships, limited liability companies, and corporations. He negotiates and drafts letters of intent, lease agreements and modifications, and asset purchase, stock purchase and merger and reorganization agreements.

He also represents clients on tax controversies, state and local tax matters (including California property tax matters), estate planning, estate and trust administration, probate, and tax deferred exchanges.

John was raised in Southern California and has lived in the South Bay area of Los Angeles, California for nearly 40 years. He received his Juris Doctor cum laude from the University of Chicago Law School in 1974. At the University of Chicago, he was an Associate Editor of the Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif honor society. He received his Bachelor of Arts summa cum laude in economics from Claremont McKenna College in 1971.
